DEHRADUN: Lobsang Sangay, prime minister of the Tibetan government-in-exile, who is in Dehradun on a five-day official visit, interacted with members of the substantial Tibetan community in the region, and visited schools run by the community on Friday. Sangay, who is referred to as Sikyong (political head) of the community, during his interaction with students and staff of the Tibetan Homes Foundation (THF) schools at Gohri Mafi, located on the city outskirts, and at Old Rajpur, explained the Tibetan Kashag’s (cabinet’s) flagship five-fifty strategy to resolve the Tibet issue.
Students, who listened to his over one hour long speech at the THF School in Old Rajpur, said they were inspired to work harder. “I loved how the Sikyong mentioned that women can lead better due to their compassionate and soft side and the need to empower them. Also the fact that we must not lose hope of a free Tibet, as even as refugees, we are in a comparatively better position than others in the world with our own constitution and judiciary and can be positive about the Tibetan movement,”said Tenzin Noryang, a class 10th student.
Earlier in the day, Sangay also attended the ‘Long life prayer ceremony’ of the Sakya Gongma Rinpoche and the teachings of the 42nd Sakya Trizin Rinpoche.
