Sherpas Threaten Strike

April 24, 2014;

Sherpa guides in Nepal are threatening to withdraw services as guides to climbers on Everest as a mark of respect to their 16 colleagues who died in an avalanche last week, and are also demanding a bigger share of revenue from foreign climbers, and better measures to ensure speedy rescue and treatment facilities for guides. Sherpas have one of the most dangerous jobs in the world.
